Introducing…gaskets for girlies!

Welcome, and thanks for visiting my blog, gaskets for girlies.

My name is Bronwyn, and I live in Melbourne, Australia with my gorgeous husband (aka mr gasket) and two cats, Maxi (aka Max, Maximillion, Big Pie, Money or Money Max [because he cost us a lot of money at the Vet two Christmas’ ago]) and Ralphi (aka Pie or Baby Pie).

So why gaskets for girlies, you ask?

The name came from a former colleague of mine who was telling me about how she blew the gasket of her car, and how it was going to cost her a crazy amount to fix. I, being the girl who blew the gasket of her first car within two months of purchasing it, and I, being the girl who likes to make people feel better with jokes, told my colleague I did the same thing at eighteen, and that she should read all about it and all my other misadventures on my (non-existent) blog gasketsforgirlies.com. The next day my colleague tells me she spent a bit of time trying to look for the blog, but she couldn’t find it (sorry retrogrrl, I thought you knew I was joking). I felt (very) sheepish when I told her the blog didn’t actually exist and that I had just made it up, but it got me thinking that it was a pretty awesome name for a blog.

That was three years ago. So why start the blog now?

After university, I worked in communications, events and marketing, but right now I am waiting on the arrival of my first child due in May. While I wait, I’ve decided to (finally) create my blog, where I can share the things I create, whether it’s sewing, crocheting, needle work, or cooking, and practice some terrible photography.

I am an imperfect person but I love my family and  friends, I like to make lists and I am often heard saying “let me draw you a picture,” when trying to explain, argue, give directions, or work with children.  My faults include eating cheese as a snack (is this really not allowed or is mr gasket’s pants on fire?), having too many ideas and always saying yes (it’s my dad’s fault really, he always says, “it’s nice to be nice.”)

Here is a picture of me 23 weeks 4 days pregnant holding  a box of curling ribbon (see, I wasn’t kidding about the photography, but I will try harder!)

Want to say hi? Feel free to email me!

xoxo Bronwyn
